This is the second book in the Crawley Creek Series.Franki (Francesa) Scott is traveling through town searching for her kidnapped sister.
Romeo (Roman) Freemont is one of the co-owners of the ranch. He was brought as foster kid to live with Abe and Sara on Crawley Creek Ranch. He owns the ranch with 3 of his foster brothers. They are serious eye candy. The author's description of them makes you want to take a vacation to a ranch.
Romeo is coming off a drunk bender and accidently runs over Franki's motorcycle. He convinces her to allow him to take her bike to his brother to repair. While it is being repaired Franki is staying at the ranch.
There is something about Franki that makes Romeo want to be a better man. He has trouble letting go of a tragedy in his life and his previous way of coping is to be drunk.
I love Franki's personality/attitude. She doesn't take crap from anyone, though at times she comes across as a bitch.
Franki starts to trust Romeo and tells him the real reason she is in town. She allows him to bring the 'family' into it. I love how the family bands together to help others out. I think their binds are tighter than a lot of 'blood' family's.
I did cry along with Franki when the outcome wasn't what she hoped for.
I loved reconnecting with all the characters and was glad to see they continued into this book. We can see how each of them is continueing in their own lives.
It also makes you want to read faster so you can get to the next book in the series.

Roman has spent the last year in a bottle and a different woman's bed most nights running from his quilt over the death of his foster father. Frankie received a terrifying call from her little sister and rushed to S Dakota and into the back of Roman's truck. She reluctantly accepts his help in fixing her bike and for a place to stay. Roman is strongly drawn to Frankie and she takes a keep of faith and trusts him with her problem. When Roman can't find a lead on her sister, he convince her to let his family help. This is an emotional and sad story, and of forgiveness, love and family.
I loved the second book in this series!! Roman and Franki were perfect for each other, both dealing with guilt and pain in their pasts. They were good for each other and now I can't wait to see which brother is next. I also picked up some hints about maybe the sheriff and the girl who survived. He seemed pretty protective of her but time will tell. Good story Lori!!!
Roman "Romeo" blames himself for the death of his foster father and buries the pain in booze and women. After a night of sleeping it off in the bar parking lot he "runs" over Franki.
Franki is on a mission to find her missing sister. She is forced to trust Romeo to not only help her fix her vehicle that he destroyed but Romeo is now determined to be her "hero" and help her find her sister.
Not realizing how much they both truly need each other on this journey of what is beneath the surface. They both will need each other's streangth to be able to stand tall once this Rough Ride is over.
Amazing story telling of Romeo and Franki. Wow, what an emotion packed series !! Love it !! Deeply thought filled characters you'll love right away, an interesting story, and true romance will capture your heart. Hot cowboys, Drannon, Vin, Romeo and Hawke run the Crawley farm now. Vin was the little boy Abe and Sera helped in the prequel when he was 3 years old. Grown up now, fostered by Abe and Sera, these men have struggled and survived tough lives, and are doing well. The working cattle ranch/farm is a "dude ranch" of sorts that helps PTSD Vets and victims, and others that need the care they give. Franki comes to town looking for her kidnapped sister. Romeo backs into her Harley and Vin will be fixing it. Meanwhile Romeo has stopped his daily drinking and wants to do what ever he can to help Franki. They both have sad and unloving younger childhoods, and he was lucky enough to be fostered at the ranch. He still has some demons, she has her fears. Super hot sexiness and the fantastic feelings of the people make this worthwhile. Through heartfelt talks they discover a deep connection and compassion for each other. She finally confides that she wants to rescue her sister from human trafficking, and the Sheriff and guys help try to track her sis's whereabouts. Once they have a warrant they go to get her, but it doesn't end well. There is so much more to say, but you get the idea, it's a wonderful, well written book. More healing is expected in the next story. This could be a stand alone, but is richer if you know the characters more deeply.
Highly recommend. Looking forward to the series as it unfolds. ENJOY !!!
Lori king is an amazing and inspirational writer. I love the way her characters deal with painful situations and how great they work together to help each other. It's more than just a love story it's about surviving extremely hard situations and learning how to live your life and move on. I recommend this book to all its a great book.
This is the 2nd story in the Crawley Creek series; its main focus is Roman Fremont, or Romeo as everyone in his hometown calls him. There's a good reason for that, he's quite the charmer of women. He meets Francesca Scott, Frankie, in a most unusual way...he backs over her motorcycle. He's immediately drawn to her & wants her to hang around even after the repairs to her bike are finished. She is hiding her reason for being in town & Roman knows she's hurting inside & wants to be there for her. This is an emotional story with some laughter, chemistry & sadness; which all makes this a great read. I'm looking forward to continuing on with this series. I would recommend this as a "must read". Lori King knows how to write a great story.
